DUBON SOCIETY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA
What is TogetherGreen?
Audubon and Toyota launched the five-year TogetherGreen initiative in 2008 to fund conservation projects, train environmental leaders, and offer volunteer opportunities that significantly benefit the environment. It is funded by a $20 million Toyota gift to Audubon, the largest in the conservation groups long history.
12-28-09 In 2010 we will hold more TogetherGreen events, concentrating on local conservation efforts to bring in more volunteers in central Oklahoma. Please check this website for future scheduled events or contact Jane Cunningham at 405-721-5711 or hanenhark@sbcglobal.net for more information.
Our next scheduled volunteer event is at the same location on Saturday, October 10th from 9AM - 1PM. We will finish up the work from September and begin our work on a labyrinth right across from the outdoor bulletin board. If we get enough volunteers some can go into our wooded area and trim overgrown tree branches and pickup trash. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. If interested see contact information below please.

Can you spare 4 hours to help on a Saturday?
UPDATE July 12, 2009 - We had our first event which was more spur of the moment, but it was successful and our first TogetherGreen project was completed. We had volunteers from Chesapeake Energy, from Scout Troop 168, from Facebook, and from our chapter. The project involved installing a Kildeer Nesting Site in a remote location at Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. This was also designed by a scout in Oklahoma City, to be his Eagle Scout project. Below are some photos....on the left shows some volunteers setting up, the center photo shows most of the volunteers, and the right side photo is the FINAL RESULT! Lake Hefner now has an official Kildeer Nesting site!
Wahooooo! May, 2009 our chapter was accepted and awarded a grant to participate in the Audubon/Toyota Together Green Volunteer Program. How will TogetherGreen Volunteer Days benefit our chapter!?
