Our projects

OUR PROJECTS:

The Lake Hefner Habitat Project (Native tree planting project):

We are on our third year of enhancing the habitat along the lake road on about 8.5+ acres.  We planted native trees and placed native Oklahoma boulders there. The project is located along the lake road East of Stars and Stripes Park. Thanks to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation and Chesapeake Energy for supporting this project.  We would like to have more volunteers to help us take care of the trees and help with this project. For more information please contactj.cunningham4@cox.net.

The Western Heights School District Wildlife Area Project:

We are working on enhancing the area which covers about 40 acres on South Council. So far, we helped improve the trail throughout and have provided boulders for a sitting area and possibly an outdoor classroom. We hope to help the school district make this an educational venue by adding descriptive signage. The area includes a pond is is open to the public. Again thanks to Chesapeake Energy for supporting this project. For more information on this project also use the above e-mail contact.

The Martin Nature Park Bird Viewing Wall Project

We helped Martin Nature Park by replacing their run down bird viewing wall with a new one that will last for 25 years.  We purchased the materials and MNP volunteers began work on the new wall which is in a new location at the park.
